Babysitter accused of beating toddler not charged

A mother from Oregon is taking to social media, hoping to get justice after her toddler son was reportedly abused by a babysitter.

KATU reports that Alicia Quinney says she and her boyfriend went on a date in late March. She left her two children, iphone 5s refurbished  including herone year old son, Jacob, in the care of a babysitter while she was gone for about two hours.

Quinney rushed her son to the hospital and filed a police report. Police said they don't feel Quinney or her boyfriend were responsible for the bruises. But the sitter hasn't been charged.

The Washington County District Attorney's Office said a final decision hasn't been made on whether they can file charges. Sherwood police say they received information last week that because of Oregon law it would be difficult to prosecute.

A 2012 ruling by the Oregon Court of Appeals makes it difficult to prove "substantial pain" in child abuse chases where the victims cannot speak.

The District Attorney's Office says it's continuing to evaluate how that ruling would affect their ability to prosecute the case.

Meanwhile,Quinney has turned to social media to detail the situationin hopes of gettingjustice.

"Like it's not fair and I want my son to have justice and I want everybody else who is dealing with this to be able to come forward and be the voice for the people that need help," Quinney said.
